Men’s Hair Styles. You might have spotted the shorter hairstyles sported by celebrities like Brad Pitt, P. Diddy, and David Beckham. Now by short I’m talking really short, as in almost shaved. So why can’t you just take a razor to your head and shave it all off yourself? Because in order to sport the ultra-trendy version of this short do, you need to make sure the area surrounding your ears (from the back of the ear, forward) is shorter than the rest of your head. So if you’ve got the almost shaved look, then that patch near your ears should be practically bald. And if the majority of your hair is longer, then that area near your ears should be relatively short.
For the more conservative dudes out there, a more classic look is an equally trendy option. Whether you choose to grow your hair out and give it a “shaggy” look, or opt for a shorter do, you can sweep your fronts (otherwise known as “bangs”) to the side. Just make sure your fronts aren’t longer than eyebrow level. Your hair likely has preferences in how it likes to lay…that’d be the natural growth pattern. Very distinct in some cases (cowlicks and swirl patterns), more subdued in others. Does that mean that you’re stuck with the same old style for the long haul?…Absolutely not! In fact, it’s a good idea to “go against the grain” now and then…keep those follicles on their toes (okay, bad analogy).
Men are finally realizing the importance of great hair (and stylish lack of hair!) in looking good, feeling great and – of course – attracting women. That’s why, according to Datamonitor, global men’s hair care sales continue to surge forward, reaching US$2.4billion in 2003. Surprisingly, Japan scoops almost half of these sales (US$1.15billion), with the US second at US$727 million – a 12.4% rise on 2002. Sales are being driven by the increasing numbers of young men interested in capturing the highlighted and edgier looks of media stars, and older men paying more attention to keeping the color and thickness of their younger days. While younger men catch up with fashion; “creating” naturally messy hair, the older generation is busy preventing the first grey hairs from catching up with them. The better your haircut, the easier it’ll be to style it. Sadly, it seems men are more concerned with convenience than quality when it comes to haircut time. Be discerning! If you’re unhappy with a cut, don’t go back…No matter how convenient it is. There’s probably a good reason why it’s so easy to get an appointment with the person.
